This collection is based on the work of architect Jørn Utzon, best known for designing the Sydney Opera House. His architecture celebrates the recurring patterns of nature, featuring an additive design style which mimics the way things grow and exist in the natural world. For example, a tree grows by adding ring after ring of bark around itself. As a sailor, I was also attracted to Utzon’s work because it is inspired by sailing and shipbuilding. Utzon’s father was a shipbuilder and they spent time on the water together, much like my father and I. This connection to nautical themes felt very personal to me and I wanted to explore my love of sailing in my design.
