Salome Performance Piece
This piece combines my study of acting with fashion design. A vital part of acting is being able to connect with your partner on stage. Here, this concept is stressed using a physical structure to connect the two actors in the form of a wearable “tent.” The wearable structure can be used to create tension between the two actors as they move against each other. By making the two actors into one single unit, they are forced to find a new and deeper connection. The tent was then adorned to represent each character the respective actor was playing. In this case, the text I used was from Oscar Wilde’s “Salome.” Salome is pictured left wearing silver, and her father Herod is pictured right wearing gold.
